Terms of use
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms cover the Dassie app and the website at https://getdassie.co.za. By using them you agree to the terms below. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Dassie.
1. What Dassie is
Dassie shows public electric-vehicle charging locations in South Africa and information about them: location, speed, plug types, prices where shared, backup power, and status reports. The map, charger details and route planner are free and work without an account.
2. Information may be wrong or out of date
Charger information comes from charging networks, public datasets and other drivers. We show how recently a status was reported and mark anything older than six hours as unknown, but we cannot promise that any charger is working, available, priced as shown, or safe to use. Check before you depend on it, keep enough charge in reserve, and follow the signs and instructions at the site. Route plans are estimates based on your car’s stated figures and may differ from real-world range and charging speed.
3. Your reports
When you check in, report a problem or add a note, you give Dassie a worldwide, royalty-free licence to show and reuse that report so other drivers benefit from it. Report only what you saw. Don’t post anything unlawful, abusive, misleading or that identifies another person. We may remove reports and suspend accounts that break these rules.
4. Accounts
Signing in is optional and only needed to save chargers and trips, report, or set alerts. Keep your sign-in method secure. You can delete your account at any time from the app; your saved items are removed and your reports are kept without your name attached.
5. Payment
Dassie does not sell charging. Payment happens with the charging network at the site. Prices shown are provided by networks or drivers and may be wrong; the price charged by the network applies.
6. Networks and hosts
Dassie lists every public charger it can find, regardless of network. Being listed does not imply a partnership or endorsement. Networks and site owners may ask us to correct their details through the hosts page. Where a network shares a live status feed, we show it as the network’s information.
7. Fair use
Don’t scrape, copy or redistribute Dassie’s data, overload the service, or try to interfere with it. The Dassie name, mark and design are ours; the underlying charger data comes from the sources named in the app and remains subject to their licences, including Open Charge Map data under its open licence.
8. Liability
Dassie is provided as is. To the extent South African law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using Dassie, including a charger that turns out to be unavailable or a trip plan that doesn’t work out. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot be limited.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
